From Passion to Purpose: An Internship Reflection

Growing up, I was always drawn to storytelling, creativity, and communication. Whether it was helping organize events, creating content, or finding ways to connect people through ideas, marketing and communications felt natural to me long before I understood it could become a career. That passion only grew stronger throughout college, where I discovered how impactful strategic communication can be in shaping conversations, building communities, and creating meaningful engagement.

As a fresh college graduate entering the professional world, I knew I wanted an opportunity that would allow me to grow beyond the classroom and apply the skills I had spent years developing. When I joined Avid Core as a communications intern, I hoped to gain experience — but what I found was far more valuable: mentorship, confidence, and a clearer vision for my future.

From the very beginning, the Avid Core team created an environment where I felt supported, challenged, and encouraged to contribute ideas. Working alongside Victoria, Amanda, and Melissa gave me the opportunity to learn from professionals who genuinely cared about helping me succeed. Their guidance helped me strengthen not only my technical marketing and communications skills but also my confidence in navigating a fast-paced professional environment.

One of the most rewarding parts of this experience was seeing how much I grew personally and professionally in such a short period of time. As someone who is starting their career, there were moments of uncertainty and self-doubt. However, the encouragement and mentorship I received at Avid Core reminded me that growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone and being willing to learn continuously.

This internship ultimately helped shape the direction of my future in ways I did not expect. The experience reinforced my passion for communications and inspired me to continue investing in my education and professional development. In fact, the confidence and motivation I gained through this role played a major part in my decision to apply for my MBA, a step I am incredibly excited to take as I continue to build my career.

Looking back, I am grateful not only for the experience I gained but for the people who helped make it meaningful. Avid Core allowed me to turn a long-standing passion into real-world experience, and it helped me see the kind of professional I hope to become moving forward.

For anyone beginning their career journey, my biggest takeaway is this: do not underestimate the value of opportunities that allow you to learn, ask questions, and grow. Sometimes the experiences that shape your future begin with simply taking the first step.
