Communications Specialist Intern – Spring 2022

Avid Core is looking for a part-time intern to assist with supporting communications and outreach efforts for our federal government, state agency, and non-profit clients. This is a paid, remote internship that runs from January 2022 through May 2022.

  • Lead the execution of a communications project with supervision  
  • Assist with the development and implementation of communications strategies 
  • Manage logistics for in-person and virtual meetings, including detailed notetaking
  • Review correspondence and assist with draft responses 
  • Team with Avid Core staff and clients on developing informational materials such as blog posts, brochures, handouts 
  • Assist with the development and research of new business proposals 
  • Administrative tasks as assigned 
  • Coordinate a fun virtual Avid Core event


  • Proficiency with the full Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint) required
  • Familiarity with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) desired
  • Experience with WordPress desired


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Either currently enrolled in a degree program or recent graduate, preferably in journalism, communications, or similar field of study 

We’re looking for someone who is: 

  • Self-driven, organized, and able to prioritize 
  • Proven ability to handle multiple responsibilities and willing to take on a wide variety of tasks 
  • Fun and energetic 
  • Able to work independently and as a team 
  • Detail-oriented 
  • Interested in learning about career options in the communications field 

Compensation: $15/hour
